Our Team

Arrowtown Lifestyle Retirement Village is a family owned business – we are not part of a large corporate retirement village chain. Most of our owners are based locally in Arrowtown and the wider Otago area. This means we can take a unique approach to operating the village as we understand what it is like to live in this special region, and we can be more responsive to the needs of our residents.

We take this personal touch through into the management of the village, choosing our staff carefully for both their professionalism and caring approach. Our team will be there if you need us. We will respect your privacy and your independence, and will be there to support you if you need it.

Arrowtown Lifestyle Retirement Village is a registered retirement village, and is an accredited member of the Retirement Villages Association of New Zealand. This gives our residents extra peace of mind when becoming part of our community – knowing we are fully compliant with industry laws and the New Zealand retirement villages.

The vision for the village started when the Anderson family – founding shareholders of Aspiring Village in Wanaka, connected with local Arrowtown farmer, Roger Monk, to discuss the potential for an exclusive retirement community on Roger’s iconic farmland on the outskirts of Arrowtown. Roger, who had been using the area as an airstrip and for grazing cattle, concluded that a retirement village would enable retired friends and family to stay in this very special community, rather than migrating to main centres in search of retirement living options. The concept was further developed during whitebaiting trips to Fiordland in Roger’s plane, and together the Andersons, Monks and Armstrong families commenced the process of developing a village. The Andersons and Armstrong families bring a wealth of experience to the management of the village – with over 60 years combined experience delivering and operating retirement villages in New Zealand.

Aspiring Lifestyle Retirement Village is the sister village of Arrowtown Lifestyle Retirement Village, developed by the Anderson and Armstrong families in partnership with the Gordon family of Wanaka.  Aspiring Village is now nearing completion, with over 124 villas completed and 175 retirees in residence.  Extensive community facilities have been developed for residents, including an 800m Lifestyle Centre and a number of outdoor sports facilities. Importantly, this team have delivered an aged care hosital – the Aspiring Enliven Care Centre – in conjunction with experts in residential care Presbyterian Support Otago. We see Aspiring Village as the blue-print for retirement villages in the Queenstown Lakes District and look forward to developing an incredibly successful retirement community in Arrowtown.
